Custom Fabricator and Welder

Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for welding, building, and modifying custom-fabricated products and components efficiently to support production operations. The role involves interpreting drawings and concepts, troubleshooting design or fit issues, and fabricating solutions for custom production needs. The individual may also support facility and production improvements through custom metal fabrication, fixtures, tooling, and structural modifications as required. In addition, you may be assigned other duties or responsibilities, including work in other departments, to support overall company operations.

Essential Job Functions/Skills/Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Regular and timely attendance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering
  • Collaborate with Production Manager and the other department supervisors and leads on process improvements.
  • Select appropriate materials.
  • Cutting using multiple types of saws.
  • Measure, mark and prep materials
  • Assemble  and build custom fabricated products, parts, frames and structures.
  • Fit and align components with accuracy.
  •  Drill and tap machined parts.
  • Grind, deburr and polish.
  • Powder, paint and plate.
  • Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and quality.
  • Inspect your own workmanship.
  • Review workorders to ensure  product and quality standards.
  • Perform test fits for product function checks.
  • Repair, modify CFF’s.
  • Repair. Modify existing products or company equipment.
  • Perform welding on aluminum
  • Grind. Smooth and finish welded surfaces.
  • Read tape measures, micrometers, calipers and gauges.
  • Communicate with management or customers when required.
  • Prioritize daily work orders according to their level of importance.
  • Report equipment issues to Maintenance immediately.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Trade school certificates/licenses or associate degree preferred.
  • 3 to 5yr+ Experience in Manufacturing as Welder
  • Good documentation skills.
  • Hands on tooling skills.
  • Ability to work within a team.
  • Good communication, team player, flexible, self-motivated, and decision maker.
  • Professionalism.
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Continuous learning attitude.
  • Can read blueprints, work orders instructions and technical specifications.
  • Safe, clean, and organized work habits.
  • Familiar with what tools are correct for specific tasks.
  • Desire to meet customer satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in equipment operation for CNC, Cross Cut Saws, Welders, and Various equipment to name a few.
  • Other trade skills/licenses/experience (Welding Aluminum  Machinist, Construction, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications.

  • Responsible to support and comply with Safety Programs
  • Use of Personal Protective Gear
  • Reporting injuries
  • Wearing proper clothing and shoes
  • Working in a safe manner
  • Responsible for keeping both immediate and overall department work areas clean and organized.
  • Work environment may include exposure to chemical materials and high noise areas.
  • Must have a high consciousness for equipment safety.
  • May be required to use various personal protective equipment (PPE) including respirators, gloves, safety glasses, welding helmet and protective clothing.

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent reaching, bending, twisting, turning, and climbing.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs for extended periods.
  • Work in various positions such as walking, standing, or sitting for prolonged durations.
  • Exposure to indoor factory conditions and outdoor environments with varying temperatures.
  • Job will require frequent physical activities such as climbing ladders, standing or walking for extended durations, and lifting to 50lbs routinely with or without accommodations
