We are seeking a Cash Application Specialist to be based in our Vaughan, Ontario location.
Job Summary
The Cash Applications Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely application of customer payments to accounts receivable, ensuring clean customer ledgers and supporting effective credit and collections processes. This role plays a critical part in cash flow management, dispute resolution, and month-end close activities, working closely with Credit, Collections, and Accounting teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply customer payments (EFT, ACH, wire, cheque, lockbox) accurately and timely to customer accounts.
- Research and resolve unapplied cash, short pays, overpayments, and deductions.
- Match remittances to invoices using customer portals, bank data, and remittance advice.
- Process credit card payments and portal-based collections where applicable.
- Liaise with Credit & Collections team to resolve payment discrepancies and disputes.
- Maintain accurate AR records in the ERP system.
- Reconcile daily cash receipts to bank statements and general ledger.
- Support month-end close activities, including AR reconciliations.
- Respond to internal and external inquiries related to customer payments.
- Assist with process improvements to enhance cash application efficiency and accuracy.
- Support audit requests and internal controls related to cash receipts.
- Perform other related responsibilities.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in cash applications or accounts receivable.
- Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Customer-focused mindset with a strong sense of accountability.
- Experience with JD Edwards is considered an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills.

The estimated expected salary range for this role is $50,000 - $55,000 per year.
